Prior to my earliest work in art quilts in the Washington DC area,  I had pursued a career in community mental health during which time I took evening courses in drawing, painting, and art history.  Two events sparked my interest in the quilt medium in 1977.  The first was a course by noted quilt historian and teacher, Elly Sienkiewicz;  the second was college level training in surface design.

Living in Paris, France for the next several years, I exhibited, taught quilt making, and consumed an abundance of art resources.  A move to the US west coast in the 1980's brought myself, spouse, son, and dog to a present home in California's San Francisco Bay area.

Twenty plus years of full-time studio work has fostered an evolution of my own unique processes and ideas.  I also enjoy teaching multi-level studio workshops on creative approaches to quilt making in which textiles, paper, clay, oil pastels, paint, and journaling process are utilized.  My work has been sold and exhibited continuously since 1978.
